Press Contact RITZ CHAMBER PLAYERS DEBUTS IN SEATTLE at the renowned INTERNATIONAL WORLD CONCERT SERIES (Jacksonville, FL., February 29, 2008) – The Ritz Chamber Players (www.ritzchamberplayers.org), the nation's first chamber music ensemble “series” comprised solely of accomplished musicians spanning the African diaspora, will make its debut performance in Seattle, Washington at the renowned University of Washington International World Series, Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. in Meany Hall for the Performing Arts. Considered one of the region's premier performance facilities, Meany Hall is beloved by artists and audience members alike for its outstanding acoustics, and intimate ambiance. The Ritz Chamber Players hailed as “one of the most interesting and dynamic ensembles to emerge in recent years” by The Baltimore Sun, is comprised of the world’s preeminent musicians spanning the African Diaspora, brings a fresh, new energy to the classical music genre. The Ritz Chamber Players include some of the most notable musicians of our time, who perform with prestigious musical organizations including: The New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra and the London Symphony. Founded in 2002 by Artistic Director and Clarinetist Terrance Patterson, The Ritz Chamber Players currently perform a landmark subscription series at the Times-Union Center for the Performance Arts in Jacksonville, Florida that combines exceptional artistry on-stage with inspiring educational programs in schools and throughout the district. Through their concert series in Jacksonville, Florida and performances throughout the United States, The Ritz Chamber Players continue to build participation of multicultural audiences and communities that reflect our diverse society. The Ritz Chamber Players made its highly successful concert debut at New York’s Weill Recital Hall - Carnegie Hall, to a standing room only crowd, with critics proclaiming the group’s performance as “extraordinary, vital and fresh.” The Ritz Chamber Players have also given recent acclaimed performances in launching their celebrated international radio debut over the BBC World Service and WNYC New York with a concert broadcasted to over 40 countries as well as performances in the following cities; Miami, Atlanta, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Raleigh, British Virgin Islands, Chicago, and New York. The Ritz Chamber Players’ program Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 8:00PM, in Meany Hall for the Performing Arts will display the group’s flexible make-up of many astonishing combinations of virtuoso players including; Tai Murray – Violin, Amadi Hummings – Viola, Tahirah Whittington – Cello, Terrence Wilson – Piano, Demarre McGill – Flute and Alison Buchanan – Soprano. The ensemble will highlight the work of African-American composers Coleridge Taylor-Perkinson String Trio who was the first Composer-In-Residence for the Ritz Chamber Players.
