Bill Zick of www.AfriClassical.com offers information on a new CD of William Levi Dawson's Negro Folk Symphony.
"For years, the Detroit Symphony's recording of William Levi Dawson's Negro Folk Symphony, on Chandos 9226 (1993), has been the best known CD of the composer's only symphony. Deutsche Grammophon has just reissued a 1961 recording of the piece by the American Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Leopold Stokowski. It was first an American Decca LP, then a Decca CD. The new CD is DG 477 6502 (2007)." Thanks Bill!
