Ms. Boyd has continued her vocal pursuits through opera and performance workshops at the Mannes School of Music and the Crittenden Opera Studio and has been featured in vocal recitals at numerous churches and concert venues in New York City and Washington DC. In 2002, Ms. Boyd was a finalist in the Urban Philharmonic’s Paul Robeson Vocal Competition and a semi-finalist in the 12th Annual Friedrich Schorr Memorial vocal competition sponsored by the Hat City Music Theater. Ms. Boyd was a Young Artist with the Natchez Opera Festival for its 14th season, where she sang the role of Ann in Twilight of Magic and appeared as a soloist in mainstage productions under the baton of Dr. David S. Blackburn. Her engagements for the 2004-05 season included her third consecutive annual solo recital at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, her debut appearance with the Manchester String Quartet performing Samuel Barber’s Dover Beach, and her first concert engagement at the Sumner Museum sponsored by the Friday Morning Music Club in Washington DC. In early 2006, Ms. Boyd was featured in Cantiamo Opera’s production of Sing a Merry Madrigal, featuring the works of Gilbert and Sullivan. In 2007, Ms. Boyd sang the role of Blonde in Opera Company of Brooklyn’s production of Die Entführung aus dem Serail after making her company debut as Monica in The Medium in October 2006. Ms. Boyd was a featured soloist in Regina Opera’s International Song and Opera Festival and completed her study of the role of Adina (L’elisir d’amore) in Martina Arroyo’s fall 2006 role study workshop. Ms. Boyd has been accepted as a Resident Artist with Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton and will be pursuing her MM in Opera at Binghamton University in the fall of 2007. |

Born and bred in Brooklyn, Sibongile Boyd, a cum laude graduate of Harvard University, made her operatic debut with Harvard’s Dunster House Opera as Yvette in Puccini’s La Rondine.
